On behalf of the Camp Rosenbaum Board of Directors, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support in 2024. This year has been one of growth, joy, and resilience, all centered on the children we serve. Your generosity has empowered us to continue our mission of providing life-enhancing opportunities to youth from low-income families.
Rosenbaum PPB Youth Camp
This year’s Rosenbaum PPB Youth Camp took place from June 24th to 28th, 2024, at Parkrose High School and Middle School in Portland, Oregon. We welcomed 150 youth from the Portland Metro Area, supported by 55 staff and coaches and 3 youth volunteers. Together, we made this camp an unforgettable experience, offering activities such as Basketball, Soccer, Arts & Crafts, Archery, Football, Tennis/Pickleball, Martial Arts, Cheer/Dance, Fishing, and Golf.
Thanks to the dedication of the Portland Police Bureau, our volunteers, National PAL, and the generosity of our donors, this program continues to be a beacon of community connection and youth empowerment.
Camp Rosenbaum
Camp Rosenbaum was held this year at Camp Rilea in Warrenton, Oregon, from July 21st to 26th, 2024, offering a week-long overnight camp to 106 campers from 6 different housing authorities from Oregon and SW Washington. The youth who attended were treated to an amazing week making new friends and mentors, getting to ride horses, going on a nature hike, going fishing, creating wonderful arts and crafts, leather crafts, participating in a pinewood derby race, being in a talent show, go to the beach and making sandcastles, and much more!
This week-long overnight camp remains a life-changing experience for many of these youth, some of whom had never been to camp or seen the ocean before and we continue to meet adults in the community who went to Camp Rosenbaum as a child and are excited to tell us about their experience and how it transformed their life.
Camp Rosenbaum is only possible through your generous donations, our volunteers, and our partnerships with the Oregon National Guard, PPB and other law enforcement agencies, Home Forward and the many housing authorities in Oregon and SW Washington, and other first responders throughout the state. Together, we create a magical place for one week out of the year!
Partnerships and Community Outreach
This year, Camp Rosenbaum volunteers participated in Shop with a Cop, in collaboration with the Sunshine Division and the Portland Police Bureau. Additionally, we celebrated the success of five Star Fund participants who graduated and enrolled in higher education, continuing their journey toward achieving their dreams.
Organizational Growth and New Leadership
In 2024, we welcomed Rena Whittaker as our new Board President, following the retirement of our previous president, Sara Perkins. Additionally, we partnered with Construct the Present, thanks to a generous grant, to review and enhance our programs with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Our goals for the coming year include:
Thank You for Your Support
None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our donors, volunteers, and community partners. From attending fundraisers like the Taste of Camp, Golf Tournament, and Tea Party to donating directly, you’ve helped us make a lasting impact. Together, we’ve inspired over 456 children to dream big and reach their fullest potential, and their community is there to support and cheer them on.
Here’s to another year of growth, opportunity, and community-building in 2025.
Thank you for believing in the power of Camp Rosenbaum!
